Drug trafficking, fraud, adult/elderly neglect, animal cruelty

*A 35-year-old man woman and a 28-year-old man were jailed Friday in Gainesville in separate cases involving, among other things, drug trafficking. The drugs, listed on a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) report Saturday, are cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine. The woman is being held on bonds totaling $4,030 and the man is being held without bond.

*The fraud report is being investigated by Gainesville Police. A local business reported Thursday that the loss occurred between March 8, 2023, and August 8, 2024. It involved the illegal use of a credit card, and the loss totaled $1,815. No arrests have been reported.

*The sheriff’s office took a report Friday alleging the neglect of a disabled adult/elderly person. A 48-yer-old woman was booked into the county jail about 9:00 p.m. Friday.

*Two more cases of animal cruelty, including one alleging Aggravated Cruelty, are being investigated locally. In one instance, no arrest was reported. It occurred in the 1200 block of Pine Valley Road between 11:00 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 Friday afternoon. No arrests have been reported.

In the other case, this one being investigated by Gainesville Police, 43-year-old Stephen Andrew Turner is alleged to have killed a cat during a domestic altercation with his brother. “Domestic dispute with brother, got mad, punched a hole in the wall and kicked a pet cat, killing it,” police spokesman Kevin Holbrook wrote in an email Friday. Turner’s bond has been set at $19,500 – $11,200 on the animal cruelty charge alone.

These bring to at least five the number of such cases reported in Hall County so far this year.

More details on each of these are not likely to be available until Tuesday when law enforcement administrative offices open following the holiday weekend.
