Drug raid in Braselton; GPD updates Sun. shooting & reports child cruelty arrest; UPDATE – GSP chase ends in Oakwood

*There was lots of police activity around a Braselton apartment complex Monday which generated quite a bit of Facebook comment. It turns out that it was a drug raid but police Tuesday morning were releasing very little information about the case. “The Braselton Police executed a search warrant at one of the apartments for a drug related offense,” police spokesman Michael Steffman wrote in an email. “The case is still under investigation…” That’s all he said he could release at this time.

*Gainesville Police Tuesday said there is nothing new in the investigation into a shooting Sunday night that left a 19-year-old wounded. They have, however, confirmed the identity of the victim: Angel Misael Tamayo. EARLIER STORY: GPD investigating shooting (wgtjradio.com)

*Gainesville Police also report the arrest of a 34-year-old woman on child cruelty and reckless conduct charges. Kristen Lee Carrera was arrested “after (a) two-year-old overdosed on thc vape,” according to Lt. Kevin Holbrook.

*A chase involving the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) ended in Oakwood Monday night, reportedly with the overturning of the vehicle that was being pursued.  “They had a pursuit come into the City that ended here,” Oakwood Police Chief Tim Hatch said in an email Tuesday. “We were present to assist them, but it was their pursuit.” The chase ended on Mundy Mill Road near Legacy Link.
