Drought worsens in parts of Hall Co., others in NE Ga.

For the second week in a row, all of Georgia is suffering from a drought in one degree or another – and conditions have worsened for parts of Hall and other counties in our corner of the state.

The U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) says northern Hall and Banks counties are now considered “moderately dry” as opposed to “abnormally dry” for the rest of them. North of Hall and Banks, all counties in northeast Georgia fall into the “abnormally dry” category.

“Severe” conditions are found in several counties in the Columbus-Muscogee County area and in southeast and southwest Georgia where conditions are described as “extreme” in parts of four counties.

Meanwhile, there was no change in the level of Lake Lanier. It remains at 1064.4, the same as a week ago.
