The drought in Georgia continued to expand over the past week and is intensifying in many areas including the northern part of Hall County. That is also happening in some adjacent counties.
Since last Thursday drought conditions in the state have grown by seven percent and now cover 46 percent of Georgia. The hardest hit areas are northeast Georgia, including northern Hall County, east central, and southeast central parts of the state. Those areas are now considered “moderately” dry for the most part as opposed to “abnormally” dry which describes conditions in most of the state.
The only drought-free parts are in west central, middle, and south Georgia, and the northwest corner.
The level of Lake Lanier is up a tenth of a foot from a week ago, and sits at 1071.4.
