*The Department of Justice is going after Georgia’s Secretary of State. A lawsuit filed in Macon Thursday seeks to force Brad Raffensperger to hand over Georgia’s full voter rolls. The Justice Department claims it is making sure the state is following election rules. Raffensperger told WMAZ he’s already released everything he’s allowed. He is refusing to give up records with Social Security numbers.
*President Trump pressured then-Georgia House Speaker David Ralston to call a special state legislative session to look into the 2020 presidential election returns in the state, which showed Joe Biden defeating Trump. The AJC reports that Ralston repeatedly told Trump he would not do it. This is on top of the infamous “find” the votes call Trump made to Raffensperger about the same time.
*Respiratory illnesses are on the rise in the Peach State. The CDC says Georgia has risen to a moderate level for the season, which usually begins around October. More than 300 people have had to go to the hospital for flu-like symptoms, while nine deaths have been reported. The director of epidemiology at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta told WSB-TV that there has been a decline in vaccination rates.
*A well-known dog-fighting breeder and trainer in southwest Georgia was convicted this week of dozens of federal animal welfare charges, along with possessing guns and manufacturing drugs. Dun Bradford, of Sale Citty was found guilty of 67 counts of possessing a dog for use in an animal fighting venture, one count of manufacture of and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime.
