U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Monday the Department of Justice is dropping a lawsuit against Georgia’s voter id law passed in 2021.
The lawsuit was brought on by the DOJ under the Biden administration that claimed, at the time, that it targeted black voters. The law requires ID to vote, reduces drop box locations and tightens restrictions on absentee voting.
Bondi called the lawsuit targeted litigation.
At the prompting of former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams and others, the MLB All-Star game was moved out of Atlanta the year the law passed.
