*Administering new COVID-19 booster shots is on hold for now in Georgia. The state Department of Public Health is awaiting word from the federal vaccine committee on whether or not the new booster is recommended. CVS advised the AJC that they’ll only give out the booster in Georgia with a prescription. The FDA has already approved the booster for certain parts of the population.
*Georgia’s U.S. senators are pressing the Health Secretary to resign. Both Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock said yesterday that Robert F. Kennedy, Junior should step down over his radical ideology and firings at the CDC. Kennedy sat through questioning over policy, vaccines and cuts at the CDC during a hearing with the Senate Finance Committee yesterday. Warnock called Kennedy a hazard to the health of the American people.
*Construction at a project for the Hyundai Motor Group factory site in Bryan County is on hold after a raid by federal immigration agents. WSAV reports 450 people were apprehended by ICE agents during yesterday’s operation. The workers were on the construction site of a battery factory, not in the electric vehicle factory itself.
