*The Catholic League is calling out northwest Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (pictured), a staunch conservative, after she posted on social media that evil was being defeated by the hand of God. Her comments came just after the death of Pope Francis was announced. The president of the Catholic League wrote a letter this week asking for Republicans and Democrats to censure Greene for her “bigoted” remarks. Francis was not a favorite of many conservatives because of his views on immigration and other controversial issues.
*The grandson of Jimmy Carter isn’t expected to be on the ballot for governor in Georgia next year. Former state senator Jason Carter said this week he doesn’t plan to run for the seat, which will be vacated by Brian Kemp. Carter had been mentioned in Georgia Democratic Party circles as a possible candidate.
