Being in a county park after hours was just the start of his troubles

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Lula man on several drug-related charges during a “park check” early Friday morning at Laurel Park.

It was around 2:30 that the officers were checking the park, which was closed, when they found a pickup truck in a no-parking zone and a man fishing off a nearby dock. The man, identified as Jamie Lee Poole, had a suspended driver’s license. Deputies explained to Poole that he could not be in the park after dark, a report on the incident says, and he argued with them, using profanity and screaming.

“Deputies observed an empty beer can near Poole’s truck door and a full bag of beer cans in the bed. There was also an open container of alcohol in the truck’s center console. Deputies arrested him for public drunkenness and littering.

Inside the truck, deputies say they found approximately two grams of a drug mixture that tested positive for both methamphetamine and fentanyl. They also found three THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) vape pens, three methamphetamine pipes, two mixing sticks and a marijuana grinder.

Poole stated he had recently used fentanyl, so Hall County Fire Rescue responded to check him. After he was medically cleared, deputies transported him to the Hall County Jail.

In addition to the offenses above, deputies charged him with possession of fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine and three counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, all felonies. They also charged him with six counts of possession of drug-related objects, a misdemeanor.

Poole remained in jail on $9,310 bond at last check.”
