Back to School 101: By the numbers

Did you know there will be approximately 116,000 teachers in 2,315 public schools in Georgia when the 2025-2026 school year begins? And that about 2,300 of them will be in the Hall County School District’s 35 schools and that nine percent of them are new to the district this year?

Spokesman Stan Lewis added that the district has “approximately” 3,400 employees “across the board” and at a school board meeting a week ago, there were only five vacancies.

Statewide, student enrollment is expected to be around 1.7 million. Hall County is expecting 28,000 and the Gainesville City School System around 8,500.
