Any sign of April Showers? Potentially, says the NWS

Long-range forecast models are suggesting a large-scale weather pattern supportive of rainfall across parts of the eastern U.S. near the end of the month, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). But don’t get your hopes up for a “drought buster.”

“This is not a guarantee that all of Georgia will see rainfall,” a Monday night advisory says. “It does mean that rain chances will increase across parts of the state. It will take an extended period of ample rainfall to put a dent in the drought.

An area running from northern Louisiana to Illinois stands the best chance for rain (60%-70%), the advisory says. There’s a 40%-50% chance in an area running from the Missouri-Oklahoma border to where Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee meet.

For our part of Georgia, the chance for significant rainfall is between 40% and 50%, The rest of the state? 37%-40%.
