Another 985 ‘following too closely’ accident, another mammoth traffic jam & more

The state patrol says there were no injuries in a traffic accident on I-985 Thursday afternoon but that it resulted in another massive rush-hour traffic delay. And it was another case of “following too closely.” Troopers released the report late Friday.

They say a Stone Mountain man, Dennis Lewis, told them traffic ahead of him near the Friendship Road exit slowed abruptly and he swerved to avoid striking the rear of the vehicle ahead of him. His SUV then struck a guardrail.

Hall County sheriff’s deputies who helped direct traffic at the accident scene reported in a social media Traffic Alert that one northbound lane was closed for about 30 minutes until the wreckage could be cleared.

SOMETHING ELSE

Then, Friday afternoon there were two problems about the same time northbound on the Interstate between Exits 12 and 14 that cause a rush-hour delay of about half-an-hour: an accident and a car fire. No other information on either of them was available Friday.
