Agenda for Tuesday’s GCC meeting

With the Monday morning posting of agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Gainesville Mayor and City Council it’s official: the controversial request to locate a luxury hotel and residential components on Lake Lanier is scheduled to be considered at that time.

But as 97.5 Glory FM reported over the weekend, opposition to the plans has continued to grow since the city’s planning board recommended its approval, with conditions, last month.

‘No hotel on Ivey’

One of the first orders of business, however, will be the swearing in of the newest member of the council – Bob Norton. Norton was declared the winner of a special election that was set for May 19 after he was the only candidate to qualify. He will succeed the late Danny Dunagan who died last year.

Also on the agenda is a request for a duplex apartment on one-fourth acre on Westside Drive between Pearl Nix Parkway and Tate Street. The request is for the rezoning of the tract to Residential Two (R-II).
