Additional charges filed against theft suspect

Already in jail on a theft charge in the case, a Homer man now faces first-degree burglary and other charges in connection with an early-November residential burglary in North Hall.

Last Saturday, Hall County sheriff’s deputies received information that a suspect in the case planned to sell a stolen utility trailer at the intersection of Price and Cool Springs roads. They stopped Jason Edward Towe, 37, at the intersection, recovered the trailer and arrested him. The trailer was stolen on the night of Nov. 6 from outside of a residence in the 5100 block of John Reynolds Boulevard.

During his arrest, deputies found approximately two grams of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe on Towe’s person. They charged him with possession of methamphetamine (felony), theft by receiving (misdemeanor) and possession of drug-related objects (misdemeanor). Additionally, deputies cited him for expired tag and suspended license. Towe has remained in the Hall County Jail since his arrest.

The investigation into the John Reynolds Boulevard case continued, with HCSO Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigators obtaining warrants for additional charges against Towe on Tuesday. The added offenses are first-degree burglary (felony) and two counts of theft by taking (misdemeanor).

According to the ongoing investigation, Towe committed the Nov. 6 burglary when he entered the home during the early morning hours and stole items as the victim slept. The objects included several security cameras and two computers. Towe also took a wood splitter and the previously mentioned trailer from the property.

Towe is being held without bond. The case remains under investigation.
