Plans for 700-unit apartment complex near the Hall-Gwinnett line withdrawn

House Majority Leader Chuck Efstration (R-Dacula) and Senator Clint Dixon (R-Gwinnett) Wednesday applauded the withdrawal of plans to create a large apartment complex in the Hamilton Mill area of Gwinnett County.

“I’m proud of the work by so many constituents and local community groups who fought this irresponsible attempt to build 700 apartments in an area of Gwinnett that is already suffering from overcrowding and traffic congestion,” Efstration said.

“Today’s decision by private developers to withdraw their plans for an ill-conceived 700-unit apartment complex on Sardis Church Road is a strong step in the right direction,” Dixon added. The development would have also included 10,000 square feet of commercial retail space.

The 40-acre tract was previously owned by Jackson EMC and is next to Seckinger High School in Buford.
