Two people were killed early Wednesday when their car sped through a stop sign on Duncan Bridge Road in Habersham County, went airborne over railroad tracks, and struck a parked rail car in a private railroad freight yard.
County spokesman Rob Moore said the accident happened about 1:00.
The victims have not been identified but the Georgia State Patrol says they were from Rockmart, Georgia – a 46-year-old and a 61-year-old.
Moore says emergency personnel were on the scene until about 6:00 a.m.
