Hall Co. fugitive back in Gainesville and behind bars

A Florida man is in custody at the Hall County Jail in connection with a September domestic incident at a residence off Athens Highway in Gainesville.

Abner Josue Medina Rueda, 24, of Pompano Beach, was booked at the Hall County Jail just before 7 a.m., Tuesday. He faces charges of misdemeanor sexual battery, two counts of felony aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act (FVA) and felony robbery.

The charges stem from a September 6 incident involving a woman with whom Medina Rueda had previously been in a relationship.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded that evening, and determined the suspect had physically assaulted the woman and stolen money from her. He was not at the residence when deputies arrived. More specific details about the allegations are not being released publicly at this time.

The victim underwent a medical evaluation but she was not hospitalized.

A prison transport service transported the suspect to Hall County.

In addition to the charges related to the domestic incident, Medina Rueda is being held on an immigration detainer.
