$5k fraud; public in decency

A 38-year-old man told Gainesville Police Tuesday he lost $5,000 to fraudsters earlier in the day. It was a scam that is nothing new to law enforcement.

“Victim was contacted by an unknown subject who advised there was a warrant for his arrest and that he would need to pay a bond to avoid arrest,” police spokesman Angie Miller wrote in an email.  “Victim did send money to the caller…”

Also Tuesday, a 40-year-old man was arrested at Walmart on Shallowford Road after he was reportedly seen by store security urinating on vehicles in the parking lot.

“Officers made contact on scene and confirmed subject’s identification after watching (security camera) footage of the incident,” Miller said.
