A Gainesville man remains in the Hall County Jail Friday following his arrest this week on dozens
of charges involving the sexual exploitation of children.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit
received a cybertip this week from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
(NCMEC), leading them to suspect Andrew Wayne Broome. The tip
contained 100 videos depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
On Thursday, investigators interviewed Broome, 36, at his workplace. During the interview, he admitted to possessing the videos.
Investigators seized his cell phone and later conducted a search of his residence and seized “multiple” electronic devices, sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams said. “Additional charges are possible following forensic processing of the devices.” Investigators say at this time there is no evidence the child victims in the videos are from the local area.
Broome is being held without bond on 100 counts of sexual exploitation of children
for the possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
