6:45 P.M. THURSDAY UPDATE:
An appeal for the public’s help in finding the killer or killers of an elderly East Hall man in the Shallowford Road Walmart parking lot Wednesday night was made Thursday by Gainesville Police.
81-year-old James Edward McDaniel of Lula was returning to his car on one of those motorized shopping carts you see in supermarkets and big box stores when he was killed.
In appealing for help, police did not discuss a possible reason for the shooting or any suspects or persons of interest.
