But, I don’t wanna go to jail!

A woman is facing numerous charges after she was taken to jail, reportedly kicking and screaming all the way, by Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies.

According to the sheriff’s office, this all began when a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying a drive-out tag that was not registered to the vehicle. During the stop, Mabesty Espinal approached deputies and identified herself as the wife of the man being arrested. Authorities said she initially provided a false name.

A deputy subsequently checked the tag on the vehicle Espinal had been driving and determined it was unregistered and uninsured. Investigators said Espinal also provided a false name and date of birth.

When deputies attempted to take her into custody, Espinal allegedly resisted arrest and fought with deputies. Authorities said it took four deputies to safely place her in handcuffs. During a search, deputies reportedly found a bag containing methamphetamine in her pocket.

Officials said Espinal continued to resist and refused to get into a patrol vehicle. Once inside, she allegedly screamed and repeatedly struck her head against the vehicle’s partition. Authorities said she then slipped out of her handcuffs and used them to strike the divider, causing damage to metal and plastic components.

At one point during transport, Espinal became unresponsive. Deputy Brecher confirmed she was breathing, and after arriving at the jail, deputies provided aid before EMS transported her to a hospital.

After being medically cleared, Espinal again became combative, according to authorities. Deputies reported that she screamed, fought with officers, and had to be carried from the hospital. While being placed back into a patrol vehicle, she allegedly resisted deputies.

During a second transport to the jail, authorities said Espinal again slipped out of her handcuffs and struck the divider. She also allegedly removed a GPS device and its cables from the patrol vehicle, used the device to strike the rear windshield, and pulled foam from the center divider.

Espinal was ultimately booked into jail in Cumming and charged with:

  • Two counts of Simple Battery Against a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Two counts of Simple Assault
  • Two counts of Interference with Government Property
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Expired or No License Plate
  • Giving a False Name, Address or Date of Birth
  • Failure to Maintain Insurance

Authorities also reported that Espinal had active warrants for her arrest in Cherokee, Fulton and Gwinnett counties.
