A northeast Georgia hospital says it needs help from local governments or it may not survive.
Tyler Taylor, CEO of Elbert Memorial Hospital (EMH), says the situation is dire, adding
The hospital is asking Elbert County and the city of Elberton for a combined half-million dollars to keep operating. It has not received financial support from the county through local tax dollars since 2019.
Local officials are now debating whether taxpayers should help cover that shortfall before the hospital’s financial situation gets worse.
