The Wisconsin state senator who was at the center of a dispute over residency that involved Dawson County lost her bid for re-election Tuesday.
Democrat Jeff Smith, who was running against Republican Michele Magadance Skinner, had tried to have her disqualified because he claimed she and her husband had been “double-dipping” when it comes to claiming homestead and senior citizen tax exemptions by filing claims in both Wisconsin and Georgia.
The Skinners own property in both Wisconsin and in Dawson County.
WEAU-TV in Eau Claire, reports that Smith defeated Skinner 58% to 42%.
