*The Democratic National Convention is bypassing Atlanta once again. The city was eliminated as a possibility to host the 2028 event when the list of finalists included just Boston, Denver and Philadelphia yesterday. Mayor Andre Dickens wrote yesterday that the Democrats are abandoning Atlanta, the South and Black voters again. Atlanta hasn’t hosted a convention since 1988.
*Delta is taking a look at a plane that was forced to return to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport last night. Flight 1518 was heading to Raleigh, N.C., when problems surfaced with the right engine. The 173 passengers were directed to another plane when the flight arrived safely back in Atlanta.
*Houston County school officials are beefing up security measures in response to a shooting last week. Metal detectors will be installed at middle and high schools within the next two-months. There will also be an increased presence of school resource officers.
*A man in Chatham County is facing murder charges for three fatal fentanyl overdoses. The deaths occurred this year and in 2021 and 2024.
