A special election will be held in November to fill the unexpired term of Forsyth County Tax Commissioner Matthew Ledbetter who died unexpectedly last month.
The winner will serve until Dec. 31, 2028, when the current term ends.
Qualifying for the special election will begin July 29 and end July 31.
