Gville High, Forsyth Central to pilot a new school safety program in Ga.

A pilot program that deploys drones to stop mass shootings will launch in five Georgia schools this fall, including Gainesville High and Forsyth Central High in Cumming.

WABE reports the Georgia legislature included $550,000 in the 2026 state budget to fund the emergency response system run by Campus Guardian Angel. The state Department of Education (GDOE) has confirmed plans for the program.

In addition to Gainesville High and Forsyth Central, Coffee County High School in Douglas, River Ridge in Woodstock, and Statesboro High will participate.

Only one other state, Florida, which approved the funding for the program last year, has agreed to pilot the program. The drones are being installed in three of that state’s schools now.
