Northeast Georgia and the state’s major metropolitan areas led in early voting turnout, according to the Secretary of State’s office.
Towns County topped all 159 counties in turnout with 48.3% of its eligible voters casting ballots during the three weeks ending Friday. In Hall County, the turnout was 34.1%, while in neighboring Forsyth, it was 40.3%. Among all adjacent counties, Barrow’s 27.7% was the lowest, in line with may south Georgia counties.
Statewide, nearly three million early votes, in-person and absentee, were cast, a record for mid-term elections in Georgia.
