Braselton hospital achieves national recognition for maternity care; Former BCSO employee charged with Flock misuse

*Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Braselton recently earned The Joint Commission’s Maternal Levels of Care Verification designation as a Level II Maternity Center. Level II maternity centers are equipped to care for mothers with certain moderate-risk conditions and newborns who require a higher level of care than is available in a basic maternity setting. The recognition comes shortly after the hospital celebrated 10 years of maternal and infant care.

*A former investigator with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is free on $7,500 bond after being arrested on charges that she misused the Flock system. Stephanie Howard, 31, Winder had resigned this week after being accused of the wrongdoing. The GBI arrested her on charges of violation of oath of office and misusing license plate data. The sheriff’s office said that an audit of the system’s use revealed several suspicious inquiries Howard had made using the system but did not elaborate.
