FCSO: Man shoots, critically wounds roommate

FORSYTH CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (FCSO) NEWS RELEASE:

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly before 8:00 Wednesday night at
a residence on Shiloh Road when they found a man who had been shot several times and critically wounded.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and immediately
initiated an investigation. Detectives quickly identified the suspect as Jose Luis Delgado Mendoza, 35, a
roommate of the victim.

Assisted by the sheriff’s office Fugitive Unit and other personnel from the office they worked throughout the night and into the morning to locate Mendoza. About noon today he was located near Redi Road in
Forsyth County and taken into custody without incident.

During the investigation, detectives were notified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that
Mendoza does not appear to be legally present in the U.S. Federal authorities are conducting
a separate inquiry regarding his immigration status.

Mendoza is currently housed at the Forsyth County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault.
Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.”
