HCSO: Cobb Co. man scammed Gville business out of $5,000+

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators have arrested a Cobb County man on charges of scamming a local business out of $5,200 – and he’s facing similar charges in another county.

Jorge Garcia-Ramirez, 55, of Kennesaw, was booked into the Hall County Jail on Thursday on a single felony count of conversion of payments for property improvements. He remains in custody on a bond of $5,700.

According to the investigation, operators of a used car business on Browns Bridge Road hired Garcia-Ramirez in Oct. 2025 to do some concrete and asphalt work at the business. Investigators determined they had hired the suspect through a Facebook advertisement. They made an advance payment of $5,200 in cash with the agreement that Garcia-Ramirez would order materials and return to begin the job.

While some materials were delivered to the business, Garcia-Ramirez never returned, detectives say.  The business operators reported the theft on Nov. 25. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Garcia on New Year’s Eve.

Through the investigative process, investigators say they learned the suspect had committed similar crimes in Gwinnett County. He was transported from the Gwinnett County Jail to Hall County to face the local charge.
