Nearly $3 million grant to help with improvements at local airport

The work has been planned as part of the Airport’s Capital Improvement Plan. Documents on file with the city say the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have reviewed and evaluated bids.

The city has received a contract for $2.8 million in FAA-GDOT grant funding for the project.

The work involves taxiway rehabilitation and upgrading the visual approach system and “distance remaining” signs. The city’s share of the cost is $334,000.
