*Eijroghene Okuma, a former investment advisor from Lithia Springs, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of wire fraud after defrauding an elderly client out of nearly $10 million over a three-year period. Sentencing is set for June 23 in U.S. District Court in Atlanta. (DEPT. OF JUSTICE)
*The Vidalia onion season is set to begin as the Georgia Agriculture Commissioner and the Vidalia Onion Committee officially announce the 2026 pack date. *GBI Agents have identified remains found in December 1976 in Seminole County as those of Curtis Lee Jones. Agents used genetic technology to identify them. The family of Curtis Lee Jones was notified in February 2026. Hunters found his body in woods near the Chattahoochee River. The cause of death could not be determined. (GBI)
*State legislators have approved a new specialty tag. The design showcases a sunset over the north Georgia mountains, a pitched tent, and a campfire — all in orange, yellow, blue, and shades of green. It is among five new ones for 2026 and is available for $80 in the first year and $55 thereafter. More information can be found on the Georgia Department of Revenue website.
*Morrow police are investigating potential criminal activity involving a hidden razor blade. A woman says she found the inch-and-a-half long blade in her food at a restaurant in the city earlier this month.
