*An Atlanta-based nonprofit is conducting urgent rescue missions to aid women and children affected by the war in Iran. Dr. Diako Alikhani with Church of God World Missions is assisting women and children in Iran to leave the war torn country. Fox5Atlanta reports that Alikhani says the situation in Iran is dire, with escalating military actions causing chaos and uncertainty. Officials with the Pentagon said they plan to launch the most intense attacks inside Iran to date soon.
*The Sweetbay Magnolia, a native to Georgia, will officially take the place of the Cherokee rose as Georgia’s state flower, if the governor signs recently passed legislation. Rep. Deborah Silcox says the Cherokee Rose was adopted as the state flower in 1916 under the incorrect assumption that it was a legacy of the Cherokee people, but the Georgia Native Plant Society says the Cherokee Rose came over from China sometime in the 1800s.
