The attorney for the Toccoa man charged a few days ago by Hall County authorities with severely injuring a Gwinnett man in a fight over the sale of a used car has responded to the allegations.
Zachary Earl Tumlin of the Tumlin Law Group in Dahlonega says “Recent media coverage concerning an altercation in Hall County omitted critical context regarding an alleged vehicle fraud scheme targeting Mr. Chad David Ivey and potentially other buyers.”
Here is the rest of the statement, complete and unedited:
“Background of Alleged Fraud Scheme
Mr. Ivey purchased a 2012 Toyota Tundra through Facebook Marketplace from a seller
using the alias ‘Amira Amy.’ The vehicle was marketed with a falsified CarFax report and
manipulated mileage records reflecting approximately 200,000 miles fewer than
documented in prior state title filings.
Upon discovering the discrepancy through Stephens County motor vehicle officials, Mr. Ivey
attempted to contact the seller but was blocked.
Nine days later, the same individual allegedly reappeared under the alias ‘Elvys Presley,’
listing a Ford F-150 King Ranch with similar documentation inconsistencies and mileage
discrepancies consistent with odometer tampering.
February 20, 2026 Meeting
Mr. Ivey arranged a meeting at a public location in Hall County to confirm whether the same
individual was continuing the alleged scheme. During the interaction, the seller allegedly
offered to refund the Toyota purchase. While Ms. Ivey was on the phone with 911, the seller
repeatedly reached into his clothing, prompting reasonable fear for safety. Mr. Ivey
intervened.
Upon law enforcement arrival, the seller alleged that Mr. Ivey had brandished a firearm. No
firearm was recovered and that allegation is denied.
Public Notice
Individuals who believe they may have been victims of similar schemes involving falsified
CarFax reports, altered titles, or alias Facebook Marketplace profiles are encouraged to
contact local law enforcement.”
