“Extreme” drought conditions continued to push farther north in Georgia this past week and now cover the southern half of Hall County, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM).
Elsewhere in northeast Georgia, all of Barrow and Jackson counties and parts of Gwinnett and Banks fall into that category this week as do a few other counties extending eastward to the South Carolina line. The same is true of virtually all of north Georgia, and “extreme” conditions which started along the Georgia-Florida line a couple of months ago have now pushed into middle Georgia.
Despite the worsening drought in the area, though, the level of Lake Lanier is again this week virtually unchanged at 1065.6.
