*Two street preachers who were arrested during last year’s Macon Cherry Blossom Festival have been acquitted. Attorney Catherine Bernard says Christopher Smith and Blake Fuller were sharing their message but were eventually silenced and charged. She feels the judge did the right thing by dismissing the jury and ruling himself. Bernard feels the festival bullied her clients and is happy it seems the judge agreed. The two were charged with noise ordinance violations and criminal trespassing.
*Officials in Irwin County are considering whether to allow data center construction in the region. Suwannee Riverkeeper John S. Quarterman tells WALB-TV that keeping the river clean is vital to nearly everything in the region. He adds water levels in some rivers and springs are already low, and adding data centers will further strain natural resources.
*A central Georgia couple had a frightening experience on Valentine’s Day when an object was thrown from an I-75 overpass, shattering their windshield. No arrests have been made in this particular case, but authorities are investigating. 13 WMAZ reports that this case is one of 17 reported incidents already this year in Macon involving objects thrown onto vehicles along I-75 and I-16. In another case, two teens were arrested for allegedly throwing an object off an overpass in Macon on Feb. 6, causing injury to a driver on I-75 Northbound.
