*The candidates for U.S. Senate will face one another during a televised and streaming debate on October 8, less than a month away from the midterm elections. The one-hour debate will be hosted and moderated by Atlanta News First, and will take place at Assembly Atlanta, a production studio for TV and film.
*Teddy’s Market, an Atlanta convenience store, is fighting Buc-ee’s in court over trademark issues. Teddy’s claims Buc-ee’s logo resembles Bucky Beaver, a cartoon created in the 1950s by Disney for a sponsor. This lawsuit also follows Buc-ee’s own infringement claim against Teddy’s, which features a bear instead of a beaver. The filing also accuses Buc-ee’s of being a trademark bully.
*A Putnam County bar is being ordered to pay thousands for refusing to pay a licensing fee to play music by a number of musicians. BMI claimed in a lawsuit earlier this year that Pals Watering Hole was contacted more than 60 times about paying to play the music, but the bar never paid for the license. A judge ordered the business to pay more than $17,000 this week.
*The Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex at Robins Air Force Base is set to hire hundreds as part of a new hiring program. The complex is set to bring on 600 new employees, with more positions expected to open. They’re looking for experienced professionals, entry-level workers, and recent graduates. Roles include sheet metal mechanics, aircraft mechanics, and electronics specialists.
