NGHS employee named National Health Educator of the Year

Tasha Murchison, a clinical simulation educator with Northeast
Georgia Health System (NGHS), has been named the
national 2025 Society for Simulation in Healthcare “Educator of the Year.”

The honor recognizes educators who bring “exceptional creativity, skill and
compassion to simulation-based education.”

Murchison was chosen for her work in addressing maternal healthcare disparities through educational practices.

Over the years, NGHS officials say, she has helped ensure that
emergency medical services (EMS) providers, rural hospitals and underserved regions receive
the same high-quality educational support available elsewhere by utilizing the NGHS mobile
simulation lab, a specially equipped vehicle resembling an ambulance that brings realistic hands-
on medical training directly to healthcare providers.

To further address healthcare disparities, Muchison partners with HOPE for Georgia Moms
to provide workshops for areas with limited maternity care. Since 2024, these workshops have
trained 199 healthcare providers from Georgia and neighboring states, and four instructors are
now certified to expand the program using a train-the-trainer model.
