FBPD echoing what HCSO is saying; DCSO, too

FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE DEPT. (FBPD) FACEBOOK POST 12:45 P.M. SATURDAY:

“Road conditions throughout the area have become very slippery and, at times, dangerous. Officers throughout the area are currently responding to multiple traffic crashes and disabled vehicles in various locations.

For your safety and the safety of others:

• Please stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary

• Reduce speed and increase following distance if you must drive

• Remain patient as officers work to assist motorists and clear hazards

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work through these conditions. Your safety is our top priority. Stay safe, stay warm, and stay home.”

And the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) has issued a blunt Facebook message with a similar plea:

“We went over this last weekend (when the county was dealing with freezing rain) but apparently we need to reiterate: Getting stuck in the snow is not a 911 call. That’s a tow truck call and (makes for) a very expensive Saturday.

Please, please, please go build a snowman or sit by the fire. We are not able to pull you out of a 3” snow drift because you’re feeling adventurous. You think it’s funny but we’ve got about 4 of these going now.

Call us if you need us. Otherwise, we busy.”
