*Flu cases are on the rise in Georgia – that according to the CDC. According to data released yesterday, there was an eight percent spike in people testing positive for the virus last week. So far, an estimated 2.9 million nationally have gotten sick this season and about 1,200 people have died.

*(SRN NEWS/AP) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency is sending $350 million in funding to Georgia localities and electric cooperatives for relief efforts following Hurricane Helene and Tropical Storm Debby. The announcement comes two months after Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) released a report that said nearly $500 million in Hurricane Helene disaster relief was unpaid.

*Georgia’s economy will see growth slowing to about 1.5% in 2026, according to UGA’s Terry College of Business Interim Dean Santanu Chatterjee. “That slow rate of growth, along with some economic headwinds facing the nation, will keep the risk of a recession at an elevated level next year.”
