*An Atlanta homeowner, Rakim Bradford, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during a felony after shooting two teenagers he believed stole a package from his porch. The teens are expected to survive, and Bradford later turned himself in to police. It is unclear if the teens will face any charges.
*An Atlanta Public Schools representative says a student is recovering after being stabbed in the face with a pair of scissors at North Atlanta High School Friday. The victim was stabbed several times and sent to the hospital.
*Georgia Power and the Public Service Commission are working up a deal that could cost at least $16 billion. An agreement unveiled this week would add 10,000 megawatts of power supplies in a move to power up-and-coming data centers. It’s estimated that it could cost Georgia Power customers an extra $20 a month down the road. A final vote on the project comes up on the Jan.19.
*A councilwoman for a small Georgia city is facing more legal troubles. Timishea Price was initially charged in October after investigators found an escaped murderer hiding in her Taylor County home. WMAZ reports she’s since been indicted for impersonating a lawyer and a pharmacist, which are both felony charges. Price was defeated in the race for her post in Reynolds last month.
*(FROM SRN NEWS/AP) – The Justice Department (DOJ) is suing Fulton County and four more states as part of its effort to collect detailed voting data and other election information across the country. The department filed federal lawsuits against Colorado, Hawaii, Massachusetts and Nevada on Thursday for “failing to produce statewide voter registration lists upon request.” So far, 18 states have been sued. Fulton County was sued for records related to the 2020 election.
