GSP: Hall wreck victim dies, at-fault driver jailed

A Commerce man, injured in a two-vehicle crash in North Hall two weeks ago, has died of his injuries and the at-fault driver has been charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree, according to the state patrol. Hoyt Edward Dodd, 78, Alto was booked into the Hall County Jail Friday and released that same day on bonds totaling $16,830.

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“November 11…4:30pm, a trooper…responded to a traffic crash on Old Cornelia Highway at Joe Chandler Road.

The investigation showed a tan Ford F350, driven by Dodd…was traveling east on Old Cornelia Highway ran a red light at the intersection of Joe Chandler Rd.

A Red Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by Cynthia Carrington Whitted, 66, of Commerce, was traveling north through the intersection from Joe Chandler and attempting to turn left onto Old Cornelia Hwy. Ms. Whitted and her passenger, James L. Camp, 66, of Commerce were transported for treatments of injuries from the crash.

On November 18…GSP was notified that Mr. Camp had succumbed to injuries on November 17…”
