*Georgia students are flocking to Turning Point USA after the assassination of founder Charlie Kirk September 10th. And the surge could have political impact far beyond college campuses. University of West Georgia doubled its chapter membership; the Georgia Tech chapter’s up 60 members; and the Georgia State chapter is up 300%.
*A man dressed in a Nazi uniform is accused of assaulting a woman in downtown Athens. The student newspaper The Red and Black reports that the man swung a beer glass into her face outside of Cutters Pub this weekend. The impact reportedly broke her nose and required stitches. The victim says she tried to remove his swastika armband before the assault.
*Augusta-Richmond County is facing a $21 million budget deficit for next year. Commissioners are holding meeting-after-meeting in searching for ways to combat it and say county departments can look forward to cuts in their budgets. But commissioners agree on keeping funding at current levels for the sheriff’s office.
