E. Hall altercation leads to manhunt, two arrests

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported Friday that an incident at a residence in East Hall last weekend led to a manhunt and two arrests.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“A Gillsville man was charged with aggravated battery and simple battery following an altercation at a residence in Gillsville on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to the scene in the 5500 block of Candler Creek Road just before 1 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a physical fight at the residence. When deputies arrived, they determined the suspect, Gerald Lee Moody, 22, had assaulted a 34-year-old man, punching him in the face multiple times and causing visible facial injuries. Mr. Moody also had threatened a 16-year-old girl at the scene, pushing up against the girl and yelling at her; she was not physically harmed.

Both the male victim and Mr. Moody had fled the scene separately by the time deputies arrived.  A Hall County K9 team located the male victim in a nearby wooded area. He was transported to the hospital for treatment prior to being taken to the Hall County Jail in on warrants unrelated to the fight.

Mr. Moody was arrested the following day at the Candler Creek Road residence. He posted a bond of $1,300 and was released from the Hall County Jail on Tuesday, Sept. 2.”
