It looks like some people from Gainesville will be spending Valentine’s Day in Winder – compliments of a Superior Court judge.
Feb. 9 is the new date set for the trial of Colin Gray, the father of alleged Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray. He’s charged with furnishing his son with the gun that was used in the shooting which occurred a year ago Thursday.
The trial was originally scheduled to begin this month, but Judge Nicholas Primm agreed earlier this summer to delay it at the request of Colin Grays defense attorneys.
Earlier, Judge Primm okayed a change of venue, saying that while he still planned for the proceedings to be held in Winder, the jury would come from Gainesville. And that hasn’t changed.
Meanwhile, Thursday several observances were held in Barrow County to mark the first anniversary of the shooting that left two students and two teachers dead and several people wounded.
Apalachee hosted a “day of services” with a guest speaker and mental health resources for students. Tonight, a candlelight vigil is planned in honor the four who died.
