*Soldiers in the Georgia National Guard are going to be helping President Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration. State officials say 75 troops will go out across the state this fall to provide logistical support so ICE agents can more easily complete their duties. Nearly 20 other states with Republican governors are using the National Guard in the same way.
*The FDA reports that an Alabama-based company, independent bottler Buffalo Rock, voluntarily recalled over 20,000 cans of sugar-free 7Up and Zero Sugar Tropical Soda on July 31st due to mislabeling, as these cans of soda contain a full sugar product and were distributed to several states including Georgia.
*The University System of Georgia has created the DREAMS Scholarship to bridge financial aid gaps and open new opportunities for students. More than half of college students report they would struggle to find $500 in an emergency. The DREAMS Scholarship is designed to close those gaps, making higher education accessible to more Georgians.
