*The Masters Golf tournament in Augusta has come and gone for another year, but for Joe Bowden – the memories of this year’s event will be filed away with 61 others. Bowden says he’s been attending the tournament for six consecutive decades, beginning with his first in 1963. And he can prove it with the souvenirs he’s collected at each one, including pictures and memorabilia. Bowden says most of his memories are in boxes in a storage unit right now because his house is being rebuilt due to extensive damage from Hurricane Helene last year.
*During a signing event on Tax Day Tuesday, Governor Brian Kemp signed House Bill 112, which gives Georgians who filed their taxes jointly $500, single-filers will get $250, and heads of households will receive $375. The event was hosted by the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, where the governor also signed House Bill 111, which lowers Georgia’s state income tax rate from 5.39 percent to 5.19 percent, retroactive to January 1. The checks should be in the mail within the next 6-8 weeks.
