Caregiver accused of assaulting S. Hall woman in his care

A Flowery Branch man faces criminal charges after he allegedly punched a disabled woman in he was looking after in the arm.

William Joseph Mills, 67, was arrested Wednesday after a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy responded to a residence off Martin Road for a welfare check. The deputy spoke to the female victim, age 61, who reported Mills had been verbally and physically abusive to her.

“The preliminary investigation determined Mr. Mills had punched the victim in the arm, leaving a visible bruise,” spokeswoman B.J. Williams said. “Mr. Mills was arrested at the residence on charges of battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA) and exploitation of an elder person (felony).”

The victim was checked at the hospital.

Mills remained in the Hall County Jail with no bond at mid-afternoon Friday.
