Schools & immigrant round-ups; Dumping fines; Gas thief

*Some school districts, including those in DeKalb and Gwinnett counties, have released statements saying the well-being of students is their top priority, and they remain committed to following school safety protocols for those permitted to contact students during the school day. Gwinnett County’s says any law enforcement officers approaching a school must check in at the school office just like another other visitor.

*Atlanta is now fining people for dumping yard waste on private property. It’s part of the city’s move to keep negligent property owners from creating eyesores in their communities. It gives Code Enforcement the power to cite residents and fine them up to $1,000 per day.  

*A suspect is accused of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of gasoline in middle Georgia. A store owner told Monroe County deputies that nearly 2,500 gallons were siphoned from his business just over a week ago. Investigators found the suspect after they got a description of the vehicle he was driving off a surveillance system.
