Young hospitalized; Trump appeals to SCOGA; Rivian readying restart

*Ambassador Andrew Young, a prominent civil rights leader and former mayor of Atlanta, was hospitalized for precautionary testing after falling ill on Friday. His daughter, Andrea Young, reported that he is now joking with staff and doing well. 92-year-old Young served as the 55th mayor of Atlanta and was the first Black U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. the AJC reports that the family has requested privacy and appreciates thoughts and prayers for Young’s recovery.  

*President-elect Trump is asking the Georgia Supreme Court (SCOGA) to reject District Attorney Fani Willis’ appeal of her removal from his 2020 election interference case. Liz Kennedy reports.

*Rivian has secured a $6.57 (B) billion federal loan to restart construction on its 2,000-acre electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Social Circle. The facility is expected to create 2,000 construction jobs and 7,500 operational jobs by 2030, producing up to 400,000 electric vehicles annually. The project had stalled earlier this year but will now move forward, supported by Georgia’s QuickStart training program. Rivian’s CEO says the plant is key to boosting U.S. electric vehicle production and competitiveness.
